High-quality, single-component modelling filler, whose key chemical component is polystyrene solvent. It comes in a 30 ml glass bottle. It has a very light colour when applied. During use, it has a much more fluid consistency than similar fillers, making it very well suited for levelling minor scratches or finishing curved and unusually shaped surfaces. Like other solvent-based fillers, after application it reacts chemically with the plastic (polystyrene) and, after complete drying, forms a relatively uniform whole with the filled elements of the model. The manufacturer emphasises that the dried surface is almost perfectly smooth and very easy to further process. It should be remembered that during drying, the filler reduces its volume and tends to ‘sink’. Of course, this is not a manufacturing defect, but a consequence of the solvent evaporating from it. For this reason, it is recommended to apply a slightly larger amount (‘excessively’) to the filled surface, as there will simply be less of it after it has completely dried. At the same time, it is recommended to use a single layer of the presented filler to fill rather small defects, gaps or other imperfections in the model with a maximum depth/width of 1-1.5 mm. When filling larger defects, it is recommended to apply the filler in layers, i.e. after the first layer has completely dried, apply a second and, if necessary, subsequent layers until the desired effect is achieved. However, it should be taken into account that a single layer dries completely after several to a dozen or so hours (depending on its thickness and the amount of filler applied), and therefore applying several layers will undoubtedly prolong the modelling work. The chemical substance presented here can be applied to the surface of the model, for example, with a wooden toothpick, a plastic spatula or a specialised steel applicator, and after slight dilution, also with a modelling brush. Once completely dry, it can be easily processed with a file, an abrasive stick, sandpaper or an abrasive (polishing) sponge. Immediately after application, excess filler can be removed with a cotton swab or cotton stick soaked in a specialised thinner, thus reducing the amount of subsequent sanding and polishing work. At the same time, this technique significantly minimises the risk of accidentally sanding down modelling details located next to the filled surface. As with other fillers, it is recommended to apply it to elements cut out of frames and already free of unwanted flash. Surfaces adjacent to the filled part of the model can be protected with modelling masking tape. This chemical will prove very helpful in building any plastic model in any scale.
